It is my pleasure to welcome you to Rushcliffe Spencer Academy. We have a simple core purpose that underpins everything we do: everyone at Rushcliffe will be given the chance to shine brightly. We want every child, no matter what their ability, their background, their aspirations or the barriers that stand in their way, to be successful. As a community, we have a clear set of values that drive our behaviours each and every day.
Academic excellence is at the heart of all we do and we are rightly proud of the outstanding achievements of our pupils. However, we are very clear that there is more to education than great examination results. We want Rushcliffe pupils to develop into well-rounded young people who are kind to others, open-minded and able to lead happy and healthy lives when they leave us. Consequently, we provide extensive pastoral and wellbeing support. We also offer a broad range of extra-curricular provision and encourage pupils to take part in as much as they can. We celebrate participation and achievement in sport and the arts. Our school teams are very successful; we have been county, regional and national champions across a number of disciplines. Individually, we have many pupils who have achieved national and international success in their chosen sporting field. Music, drama and dance productions are a regular feature of Rushcliffe life. We are committed to enabling pupils to engage with the local community and people from the world of work. We have extensive partnerships with people and organisations across the world – France, Spain, China, Nepal and Guatemala to name just a few. We want our pupils to be outward looking and understand their responsibilities as global citizens.
We have high expectations of everyone in the school community. This leads to an environment where pupils work hard, show respect and courtesy and are expected to try their best in all that they do. We are a happy and harmonious community where children feel safe and talents are nurtured.
We have a committed and talented staff team. They work hard to support, nurture and challenge our pupils. We believe in investing to develop our staff so that they too are the best they can be. We work with other schools, with universities and with a number of other organisations to learn from the latest research and bring the very best practice to Rushcliffe. We are one of eight secondary schools in the Spencer Academies Trust and benefit from the close partnership working that comes from being part of a successful regional trust.
I am immensely proud to be the Principal here at Rushcliffe. I hope you find the website useful and get a good insight into the work of our highly successful school.
