On Friday 12th May the Year 13s celebrated Leavers’ Day in style wearing fancy dress inspired by the first letter of their names. Among the colourful array of costumes we had several Elvis Presleys, one bananas-in-pajamas, one SpongeBob SquarePants, one Robin Hood and a Rubik’s Cube!
Welcome to the latest volume of The Social Scientist Journal, written by our social scientist subject ambassadors in Year 12, a journal that celebrates the passions and interests of Social Scientists at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy. Each article reflects the passion and hard work of each individual student who has contributed to the journal. We hope you find this diverse issue a fascinating insight into the world of Social Sciences.
Some of our Y12 students have been working in partnership with the Trent Bridge Community Trust as “Peer Mentors”. The students have completed their training programme and are now working towards completing their minimum of 20 hours of voluntary work.
We are delighted to share that the Rushcliffe Spencer Academy netball team have been crowned U19 Regional Champions at the England Netball National Schools competition. The eight strong squad visited Oundle in Peterborough for the East Midlands Finals where they battled against the best teams from the county. The field was incredibly strong and competition great but the girls put on a fantastic performance.

A reminder that we have a Careers and Wellbeing event running on Wednesday 11th January. Years 12 and 13 have the opportunity to visit the fair during their lunch break (or their study period for Sixth Form pupils) and all students can also attend from the end of the school day.
Following the success of last year, Sewa Day Nottingham reached out to ask if Rushcliffe Sixth Form students and staff would like to support the Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2022, and of course the answer was a resounding Yes!
As part of Parliament Week, A Level Politics students were given the exciting opportunity to meet and question our Rushcliffe MP, Ruth Edwards. Whilst Ms Edwards is a Conservative MP herself, there was a wide range of political beliefs and stances within the room which allowed for many interesting and challenging questions to be asked.
We look forward to welcoming many students and parents to the Sixth Form Open Evening tomorrow.

Rushcliffe Spencer Academy would like to take this opportunity to warmly invite all prospective Sixth Form students to an Open Evening on Tuesday 4th October 2022.
We welcome current y11 pupils from Rushcliffe and other schools, who might be interested in joining our expanding and vibrant Sixth Form community in September 2023. Parents/carers are also very welcome to attend.
