Rushcliffe Year 13 pupils shine brightly!

Year 13 pupils at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy joined thousands of others up and down the country collecting examination results today. There were smiles and tears of joy as pupils opened envelopes and celebrated their wonderful achievements with each other and with the members of staff who have supported them along the way.

Over half of the grades awarded to Rushcliffe pupils were at A or A* level and, as a result of these excellent outcomes, a record number of pupils have been accepted into their first-choice university, apprenticeship or college.

This group are the first cohort to sit external level 3 examinations since 2019. As a result of the pandemic, pupils have had to overcome significant disruption to their education over the last two and a half years and, because of the cancellation of GCSEs in the summer of 2020, most have had the added challenge of navigating the pressures of a set of external examinations for very the first time.

Damian Painton, Principal, was quick to commend pupils: “We are so proud of our year 13 pupils. To have achieved so much in the face of so many challenges is incredible. They are a truly impressive group of young people. We know they will go on to achieve even greater things in the future.”

Pupils in year 13 will move onto their next steps in education, employment or training in the coming weeks. This includes those who have accepted places at Oxbridge or Russell Group universities, on a number of very competitive courses or on sought-after apprenticeships with high profile companies such as Rolls Royce.
